Sanger - President Obama on Tuesday condemned the Iranian government for its crackdown against election protesters and accused Iran's leaders of fabricating charges against the U.S., telling a news conference at the White House that he was "appalled and outraged by the threats, beatings and imprisonments of the past few days." He praised the courage and dignity of the demonstrators, saying, "Those who stand up for justice are always on the right side of history."
