[New York Times] Isabel Kershner - Israeli security forces evicted two Palestinian families in eastern Jerusalem on Sunday after they lost a long legal battle to remain in contested properties at a site in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. In the early 1970s, a Jewish association claimed ownership of the land based on property deeds from Ottoman times. At first the Palestinian families agreed to pay rent to the association to continue living there as protected tenants.
