(AFP) Hundreds of Druze living in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights began a five-day visit to Syria on Thursday, most of them for the first time in more than 40 years. The 697 people, some of them elderly, include 200 women, the Syrian state news agency SANA said. Syria's official Ath-Thawra newspaper said the people arrived through the Quneitra crossing. More than 18,000 Druze live in the Golan Heights, the vast majority of whom have refused to take Israeli citizenship.
