(AP/Washington Post) Willa Thayer - Egypt, worried that Gaza refugees might flood across its border if the Israelis intensify their offensive, has been talking directly with Khaled Mashaal, the exiled supreme leader of Hamas, pushing him to facilitate the Israeli soldier's release. Egyptian officials have also asked Syrian President Bashar Assad to persuade Mashaal to release the soldier, an aid to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said.
