(Reuters) Nidal al-Mughrabi - Palestinian security forces took up positions across northern Gaza on Friday to curb militant attacks against Israel as part of Mahmoud Abbas's plan to halt violence and revive peace talks. Palestinian security sources said 2,000 paramilitary police were assigned to the border towns of Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya and other parts of northern Gaza to prevent militants firing rockets and mortars at Jewish settlements and Israel.
