(Ha'aretz) Ari Shavit - What will history say of just retired IDF Chief of Staff Moshe ("Bogey") Ya'alon? Simple things: Director of Military Intelligence Ya'alon was one of the first to be suspicious of Arafat. Head of Central Command Ya'alon was the first to understand that an Arafat war was in the offing. Deputy Chief of Staff Ya'alon shaped the concept of the IDF's war against Arafat. Chief of Staff Ya'alon repulsed Arafat and, together with Prime Minister Sharon and Shin Bet security service chief Dichter, led Israel to a military victory over terrorism.
