(Ha'aretz) Yuval Yoaz and Amiram Barkat - The Palestinian Authority rejected Israel's request Sunday that it assume responsibility for protecting synagogues in Gush Katif and other evacuated Gaza settlements after completion of the disengagement. The request was made by an American mediator to a PA minister, who then urged Israeli officials not to resubmit the request formally to the PA.
