(Bloomberg) Bill Varner - Britain, France, Germany and Portugal urged the UN Security Council Thursday to adopt a resolution condemning the Syrian government's crackdown on protesters, and faced the prospect of Russian and Chinese vetoes. Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said his government could not support the measure "because we are not persuaded it can help establish dialogue, reach a political settlement and put an end to the violence."
