(Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs) Freddy Eytan - In the past, France's policies have hurt the West, and in particular Israel and the Jewish people, in several ways. Before the 1967 Six-Day War, France had been a supporter of the Jewish state; after the war France increasingly opposed Israel on crucial matters. Since then, France has been kept outside the crucial decisions in the Middle East. Paris missed historic opportunities on almost every occasion. France also bears major responsibilities for the development of radical Islam in the world. The writer is a former Foreign Ministry senior advisor who served in Israel's embassies in Paris and in Brussels.
