(Science Insider) Adrian Cho - Israel has become an associate member of CERN, the European particle physics laboratory in Switzerland which is home to the world's biggest atom smasher. Israeli physicists have been working at CERN for decades and have brought 10 Palestinian graduate students with them. 61 Israeli scientists are registered users of the laboratory. Israel had been an "observer state" at CERN since 1991.
