(New York Times) Thom Shanker - The Iraqi Army is a work in progress. Plans now call for fielding nine infantry brigades - about 40,000 men - by September. The first group of Iraqi officer candidates arrived quietly in December at a base set up outside Amman, Jordan, for three months of training as new leaders for the Iraqi military.
