(New York Times) David D. Kirkpatrick - The Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party on Thursday denied that there was any alliance with the ultraconservative Al Nour Party to form "an Islamist government." Unofficial reports indicate that the Brotherhood's party had won about 40% of the vote and Al Nour about 25% in the first of three rounds of voting for the lower house of Parliament. The Brotherhood reiterated that it hoped to form a unity government with the more liberal parties in Parliament.
