(USA Today) Ruth Eglash - After the Golan Heights was annexed by Israel after the Six-Day War in 1967, its 20,000 Druze residents living in four villages still considered themselves Syrians - but that may be changing. As they watch the regime of Bashar Assad slaughter 30,000 people to maintain power, there has been a rise in the number of those requesting Israeli citizenship. Elsewhere in Israel, residents of Druze communities are full Israeli citizens who serve in the Israel Defense Forces.
