(New Republic) - The bloodbath in Jerusalem was crushing not because it was so unexpected, but because it was, even in the middle of a "cease-fire," so expected. Did anybody, Mahmud Abbas and Mohammed Dahlan included, really believe that Hamas and Islamic Jihad had repented of their crazy sanguinary ways? Until the Palestinian Authority recognizes that it will not win a fight for statehood unless it wins a fight against jihadism, there will be no peace process and there will be no peace.
