(The Economist) - Mr. Rumsfeld, the defense secretary, and Dick Cheney, the vice-president, are worried about allowing America to become too entangled in one of the world's most intractable problems. But they are also overtly partisan, regarding America and Israel as engaged in a similar fight against terrorism. Mr. Bush's speech clearly marked a singular triumph for the Rumsfeld-Cheney axis.
