(Wall Street Journal) Jess Bravin - A British-backed team has been quietly investigating the Islamic State for war crimes since January, with operatives in Syria collecting evidence for future prosecution of the militant group's leaders. Now, with the Islamic State's offensive in Iraq, Western governments are considering expanding the investigation, adding the insurgents' persecution of Yazidi, Turkmen and Christian minorities, mass prisoner executions and terrorizing of Iraqi civilian populations to the dossier. Their independent investigative group is largely funded by the British government, with contributions from several European nations.
