(Cairo Post-Egypt) Egypt's Trade Ministry is negotiating with Israel to not permanently remove 68 Egyptian companies that were suspended for forging invoices documenting inputs made in Israel as required by the Qualifying Industrial Zones (QIZ) agreement, an official source said Thursday. QIZ products have duty-free status with the U.S. as long as they contain Israeli components. The companies in question have agreed to purchase Israeli inputs. The source noted that there are 150 garment factories in Egypt that benefit from the QIZ, and Egypt is planning to enroll 18 food industry companies.
