(Jerusalem Post) Hannah Broad - Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon announced on Friday that he was resigning from the Knesset after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu replaced him as defense minister with Avigdor Lieberman. According to Israeli media reports, Ya'alon turned down an offer by Netanyahu to serve as foreign minister. Ya'alon said he has no intention to step away from political life permanently. The U.S. responded to Ya'alon's departure by saying that it looks forward to working with the next defense minister, adding, "Our bonds of friendship are unbreakable, and our commitment to the security of Israel remains absolute."
