(Cipher Brief-Washington Institute for Near East Policy) Simon Henderson - While Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman is visiting the U.S. this week, the U.S.-Saudi relationship is not good. After President Obama's decision to set a red line in Syria (over Syria's use of chemical weapons) and then to walk away from that red line, Saudi suspicions of whether President Obama is on their side have only increased. To put it bluntly, they haven't lost faith in the U.S., but they have lost faith in the Obama White House. So they are just waiting for the day that the Obama Administration ends. The writer is director of the Gulf and Energy Policy Program at The Washington Institute.
