(Jewish Political Studies Review) Dr. Joel S. Fishman - On March 29, 2017, the National Library of Israel announced the discovery of SS Commander Heinrich Himmler's telegram to Amin al-Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem. The telegram was sent on November 2, 1943, the 26th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration. The telegram confirms that there was a partnership between Nazi Germany, the Arabs of Palestine and the Arab world based on their mutual support for the destruction of world Jewry. Himmler's telegraph to al-Husseini, who was in Berlin, states: "From its beginning the National Socialist Movement of Greater Germany has inscribed the struggle against world Jewry on its banner. Therefore it has always followed with special sympathy the struggle of the freedom-loving Arabs, foremost in Palestine, against the Jewish intruders....On the anniversary of the wretched Balfour Declaration I send you in this spirit my heartfelt greetings and wishes for the successful pursuit of your struggle until its assured final victory." The writer is an historian and fellow of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs.
