(Stars and Stripes) John Vandiver - While various media accounts described a new U.S. military "base" in Israel, U.S. European Command said Tuesday this was a mischaracterization. A new barracks building on an Israeli base was officially opened for about 40 U.S. soldiers who have been operating an X-Band radar facility in the Negev Desert since 2009.
