(Washington Post) Sudarsan Raghavan and Missy Ryan - On Wednesday, a military spokesman for the Iran-aligned Houthis in Yemen said they shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper military drone on Tuesday. U.S. officials confirmed the downing. In June, the U.S. military said the Houthis had shot down a U.S. drone with Iranian assistance. The attacks underscore the growing military capabilities of the Houthis, who only a few years ago were mountain fighters with no access to sophisticated weaponry. Also in June, Iran's Revolutionary Guards shot down a U.S. surveillance drone in the Strait of Hormuz.
