(Jerusalem Post) Zachary Keyser - Israeli universities, hospitals and HMOs have begun training student and medical volunteers to assist in administering coronavirus diagnostic tests to the public to help combat the spread of the virus. These volunteers will also be able to assist laboratories in reading the test samples, expediting the results to hospitals for suspected patients. The initiative has pooled together over 1,000 medical students and 600 PhD graduate students, among others. "It is inspiring to see the students, from all the higher education institutions in the country, who enlisted bravely and resolutely to establish new laboratories and to assist existing laboratories in their efforts against the coronavirus," said Prof. Carmit Levy of the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Medicine.
