(CNN) Don Riddell - The decorated Iranian powerlifter Amir Assadollahzadeh is seeking asylum in Norway since his November defection at the World Powerlifting Championships to avoid execution or torture in Iran for his refusal to wear a T-shirt of assassinated military commander Gen. Qasem Soleimani. Assadollahzadeh says he tried to explain to his superiors that competition rules prevented him from wearing anything with a picture or logo and that doing so would ensure his expulsion from the competition.
