(Times of Israel) Jacob Magid - U.S. President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid will sign a joint declaration on Thursday that includes the administration's backing for extending the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on defense aid signed in 2016 under the Obama administration when Biden was vice president, a senior U.S. official said Wednesday. The two countries will also commit to never allowing Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. The statement expresses support for the Abraham Accords and Israel's integration in the region. It also highlights shared concerns over Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Biden is seen to have largely deprioritized the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on his foreign policy agenda. While he expressed support for a two-state solution upon his arrival in Israel, he added, "I know it's not [feasible] in the near term."
