(Times of Israel-Israel Hayom-30July2018) The Israel Prisons Service will reduce the amount of time that Palestinian security prisoners are allowed to shower, in a move meant to halt the intentional waste of water by inmates. The Prisons Service said that in recent years security prisoners leave the showers running for hours at a time. Israel Prison Service data shows that Palestinian security prisoners use 3.5 times more water a year (250 cubic meters) than the average Israeli civilian (70 cubic meters). Palestinian security prisoners seem to waste 750,000 cubic meters of water a year, costing taxpayers $1.5 million.
