(Reuters) Idrees Ali - The U.S. will send a THAAD system and additional Patriot air defense battalions to the Middle East in response to a spike in attacks against U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria, the Pentagon said Saturday. The deployments come two years after the U.S. withdrew air defense systems from the Middle East, citing a reduction in tensions with Iran.
