(Ha'aretz) Amir Tibon - For the first time ever, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, visited Israel this weekend at the invitation of several families of Israelis held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. Khan told Ha'aretz he has "reason to believe" that actions defined as crimes according to international law were committed by Hamas on Oct. 7. "These were not random murders," Khan said, noting that Hamas "hunted down people" and that "children were kidnapped from their cots." He also stated that many women and elderly people were murdered, including Holocaust survivors. Khan said his office will be happy to cooperate with Israel in investigating the events of Oct. 7, even if Israel maintains its current policy of not recognizing the court's jurisdiction.
