(AP) Edith M. Lederer - The U.S. on Tuesday vetoed an Arab-backed UN resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. The vote in the Security Council was 13 in favor and 1 - the U.S. - against, with the UK abstaining. It was the third U.S. veto of a Security Council resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza and came a day after the U.S. circulated a rival resolution that would support a temporary cease-fire linked to the release of all hostages.
