(Wall Street Journal) Editorial - News reports often failed to note that Farhan al-Qadi - the Israeli hostage freed last week - is an Arab-Israeli Muslim. He is a Bedouin Arab, like at least 17 other Israelis, including six children, who were killed by Hamas on Oct. 7. None of this fits the stereotype in some Western precincts that Israel is an apartheid state rooted in ethnic hatred. That description applies to Hamas, which could have released al-Qadi, as its Palestinian brother, at any time. But Hamas considered al-Qadi an asset it could trade to Israel for the release of many terrorists. Hamas knows Israel prizes the lives of all its citizens, including Muslims, and Hamas takes advantage of Israel's basic decency.
