U.S. Warns Iran at UN Against New Attacks on Israel

(U.S. Mission to the UN) U.S. Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield told the Security Council on Monday: "On Oct. 1, Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israel, with many targeting the country's most populous city, Tel Aviv. This brazen attack had the potential to kill hundreds of civilians....Iran's aggressive actions against Israel, including in support of its terrorist proxy Hizbullah in Lebanon, are unacceptable." "There is also firm international consensus that Israel has a right to defend itself against Iran's attacks. And that is precisely what Israel did this weekend, when it carried out a targeted, proportional, and direct military response against Iran, with no reports of civilian harm. Specifically, Israel conducted precision airstrikes against multiple military targets across Iran and outside populated areas." "Should [Iran] choose to undertake further aggressive acts against Israel or U.S. personnel in the region, there will be severe consequences....So, we again call on Iran to stop its attacks against Israel, and reign in its terrorist proxies....We must impose costs for supporting terrorism and undermining international peace and stability....We will not allow the region's future to be dictated by Tehran and its proxies."
