(Times of Israel) Jacob Magid - Ahead of a Wednesday deadline set by the U.S., Israel's security cabinet has approved a series of steps aimed at boosting the humanitarian situation in Gaza, an Israeli official said Monday. The measures approved on Sunday included an increase in the amount of aid entering Gaza, and an expansion of the Muwasi humanitarian zone. An Israeli official said Monday that Israel had met most of the U.S. demands. Israel had added entrances into Gaza, increased security for aid vehicles, and managed joint task forces with the international community to improve the humanitarian situation. The security cabinet denied a U.S. request for Israel to allow the Red Cross to visit Palestinian security prisoners until Hamas allows the Red Cross to visit Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
