(Jerusalem Post) Yonah Jeremy Bob - The IDF will withdraw from most of southern Lebanon on Tuesday but will maintain five outposts within Lebanon near the border. Israel has convinced the U.S. that the Lebanese army is not yet effective enough to protect the Israeli border from Hizbullah. IDF sources suggested remaining in the outposts for a period of two to eight months, but could stay there much longer if needed. The IDF said that since Sep. 30, it had mostly cleared a 5-6 km. area of southern Lebanon near the border.
