(Jerusalem Post) Yaakov Katz - Hamas official Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was found dead in his Dubai hotel on Jan. 20. Mabhouh helped establish the Izzadin Kassam in Gaza in the 1980s and was behind the kidnapping and murder in 1989 of two Israeli soldiers - Sgt. Avi Sasportas and Pvt. Ilan Sa'adon. Mabhouh was based in Damascus, where he operated alongside Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal and was involved in smuggling long-range rockets from Iran to Gaza.
