(CNN) Mohammed Oudeh, 73, the mastermind behind the massacre of 11 Israeli athletes who were taken hostage at the 1972 Munich Olympics, died Saturday in Damascus, according to WAFA, the official news agency of the Palestinian Authority. PA leader Mahmoud Abbas wrote in a condolence letter to Oudeh's family: "He is missed.
