(New York Times) Steven Lee Myers - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton moved the U.S. a step closer to calling for the ouster of President Bashar al-Assad of Syria on Thursday as she denounced his government's intensifying crackdown on protesters. "Tanks and bullets and clubs will not solve Syria's political and economic challenges," she said. Clinton said the U.S. would pursue "additional steps to hold Syria responsible for its gross human rights abuses."
