A New York Detective's Tricky Beat in Israel

(New York Times) Judith Miller - Mordecai Dzikansky, a veteran New York Police Department detective, had only recently taken up his post here in Israel in March 2003, when a shrapnel-packed bomb blew a bus to shreds in Haifa. Fifteen passengers, among them a 14-year-old American girl, were killed. An Israeli police officer faxed Detective Dzikansky a copy of a letter found near the Palestinian suicide bomber's remains, praising the "glorious" 9/11 attack on the "two big buildings in New York."
