(Los Angeles Times) Borzou Daragahi and Alexandra Sandels - Syrian security forces opened fire with tanks and machine guns on opposition hot spots in several major cities on Sunday. The U.S. Embassy spokesman in Damascus described the day's violence as "full-on warfare by the Syrian government against its own people" and "a last act of utter desperation" by the regime.
