(AFP) Gabriela Calotti - On Wednesday the UNESCO executive committee backed a Palestinian bid to become a member of the cultural body with the rights of a state. Despite intense U.S. and French opposition, the motion passed by 40 votes in favor to four against, with 14 abstentions.
