(State Department) Deputy State Department Spokesman Adam Ereli said Tuesday, "It is America's belief that the Gaza disengagement plan, as presented by Prime Minister Sharon, offers a real opportunity for progress and a return to the political process. Israeli disengagement from Gaza, if done in a way consistent with the roadmap and with the support of the international community, has the potential to move both parties closer to a realization of the president's two-state vision." "Clearly the withdrawal from Gaza offers the opportunity to give Palestinians control over an important part of territory, to give the Palestinians responsibility for their own affairs....There's still a Palestinian Authority responsible for the state of affairs in the Palestinian Authority."2004-10-27 00:00:00Full Article
