(Times of Israel) Aaron Kalman - Israel is something of a sporting empire in the Paralympics, ranks 13th overall in the history of the Games. At the 2012 London Paralympic Games which began Thursday, Israel will have 25 athletes, aged 20-60, competing in nine different disciplines. Moran Samuel, 31, was a member of Israel's national basketball team when at 24 she suffered a rare spinal stroke. But she didn't give up her love of sports and kept playing basketball with the national wheelchair team. Sharpshooter Doron Shaziri is one of team Israel's most decorated members, with six Paralympic medals.
