(Washington Post) Anne Gearan and William Booth - U.S. officials said Tuesday they are still evaluating whether the Syrian regime has employed chemical weapons, a step that President Obama has said could trigger direct U.S. involvement in Syria's civil war. Two senior Israeli military officials asserted Tuesday that forces loyal to Assad deployed chemical weapons in several incidents that killed dozens of rebel fighters. The officials said their evidence - including photographs that show victims foaming at the mouth - made them "nearly 100%" certain. A senior Israeli military officer said a "sarin-type" chemical appears to have been dispersed in five cases. France and Britain have made similar assertions.
