(Washington Post) Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz warned Thursday that the U.S. might adopt a tougher policy toward Syria if it continues to harbor terrorists and provides a haven for Iraqi war criminals. Wolfowitz told the Senate Armed Services Committee that, "In recent days the Syrians have been shipping killers into Iraq to try to kill Americans. We don't welcome that." He added: "If they continue, then we need to think about what our policy is with respect to a country that harbors terrorists or harbors war criminals, or was in recent times shipping things to Iraq." For now, Wolfowitz said, "by calling attention to it we hope that in fact that may be enough to get them to stop." 2003-04-11 00:00:00Full Article
