(Wall Street Journal) - Editorial On Friday as part of his tour of Africa, President Bush stops off at Entebbe, the capital of Uganda. Twenty-seven years ago, pro-Palestinian terrorists hijacked an Air France flight, filled with Israelis, to Entebbe airport. The terrorists - supported by the brutal Ugandan dictator Idi Amin - threatened that unless Israel released 50 convicted terrorists, they would execute the Israeli hostages. Israel's response on July 4, 1976, was to send commandos on a daring 2,200-mile rescue mission to save the hostages. Hours before the executions were due to start, the Israeli commandos managed to kill the terrorists, destroy a quarter of the Ugandan airforce, and fly out of Entebbe with the hostages - all within an hour after landing. The lesson from the raid on Entebbe was that terrorists can be defeated. 2003-07-11 00:00:00Full Article
