Advocacy on behalf of these Jewish refugees has grown markedly in the last several years, seeking to bring both historical attention and financial compensation. "This is not a campaign against Palestinian refugees," said Stanley A. Urman, executive director of Justice for Jews From Arab Countries, a coalition of 27 groups that includes the powerful Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.
