(Ynet News) Yossi Yehoshua - The head of the IDF Southern Command, Maj.-Gen. Sami Turgeman, said in an interview that the 2014 Gaza War "was a victory. Hamas had plans and put them into practice with the aim of harming civilians and soldiers. They weren't successful....45 terrorists infiltrated through tunnels during Protective Edge, but not a single one saw a civilian....They encountered military forces." Turgeman noted "the fact that [Hamas] failed to realize its offensive aims; the fact that around 1,000 of its fighters were killed and many others were wounded; the fact that it lost its most significant asset, the attack tunnels that it spent four or five years building; the fact that we destroyed its operational infrastructure throughout Gaza; the fact that it fired 4,500 rockets in the hope of achieving much deadlier results but was thwarted by our defense systems. They are the ones who've been left with the bitter aftertaste....And in the end, the campaign ended on our terms, not on theirs." 2015-04-09 00:00:00Full Article
