For the equivalent of 3,000 pounds a month, they say they were thrown into pitch battles and firefights with rebel factions. "Approximately 500 to 600 people have died there," claimed Dmitry. "No one will ever find out about them." The official number of Russians killed in Syria stands at 19. According to military analyst Pavel Felgenhauer, "These kind of 'volunteers' do appear in different war zones, where the Russian government wants them to appear.
