(Jerusalem Post) Tamara Zieve - The number of new immigrants to Israel was 27,000 in 2016, down from 31,000 in 2015, the Jewish Agency for Israel and the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption said Thursday. Immigration from Russia rose from 6,600 to 7,000. There was also a rise in the number from Brazil - 760 compared with 497. 5,500 immigrants from Ukraine arrived in 2016 compared to 7,221 in 2015. French aliya totaled 5,000, down from 7,900.
