After the measure to refrain from endorsing the boycott was sent to the full membership for approval, the MLA announced Wednesday that the measure passed by a vote of 1,954 to 885. Russell Berman, a professor in the humanities and German studies at Stanford University, said, "This is a good outcome for the MLA and for higher education.
