(Investigative Project on Terrorism) Yaakov Lappin - According to an Israeli military source, Hamas is sharing its operational lessons from the May conflict with its allies, Iran and Hizbullah, while Israel is sharing its own lessons with the U.S. Brig.-Gen. (res.) Yossi Kuperwasser, former head of the research division in IDF Military Intelligence and now director of the Project on Regional Middle East Developments at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, said it is Israel that has proven so far to be the better student of past conflicts. It has remained ahead of its enemies in terms of preventing surprises. Kuperwasser cited Hamas' launching of heavy rocket barrages designed to overwhelm Israel's improved Iron Dome batteries, the launching of a guided torpedo toward Israel's offshore gas rigs, and the development of drones.
